KEW Plus Visco: A new generation of comfort for free stalls

With KEW Plus Visco, KRAIBURG expands its proven KEW Plus mattress system with two options featuring visco-elastic memory foam. The four-layer structure, comprising a lower mat, upper mat, conventional foam and an additional visco-elastic layer, is approx. 10 cm thick. It is designed to adapt ideally to the cow’s body shape and support even pressure distribution.

KEW Plus Visco achieves the highest softness class, Class 4, in accordance with DIN 3763. The functional cushion shape is designed to allow liquids to drain away from the lying area – for improved hygiene of the lying area. Sealing lips also completely enclose the foam layers and the lower mat.

The KEW Plus Visco TarsaCare option features a TarsaCare comfort zone in the rear third of the mat, comprising pliant ball-shaped segments. This structure is designed to provide gentle support in the area of the hock joints. It can also promote the ventilation of the skin and retain small amounts of bedding.

The mattress systems are suitable for free stalls with suspended dividers and mushroom dividers. From a width of 120 cm, a lying length of 1.92 m is available. This creates more space for natural movements when lying down, lying and getting up.

Dry walking areas: hoof health and emission reduction

Another focus at the KRAIBURG booth is on walking area concepts that reduce emissions. They combine an adequate slope, suitable drainage and easy-to-clean surfaces. The aim is to drain urine quickly from the walking surface and shorten the contact time between urine and feces in the walking alley. This reduces ammonia formation on the walking areas.

Dry, clean walking areas reduce stress on the hooves. The skin in the hoof area in particular can be affected by persistently wet and soiled floors. Animal-friendly soft, slip-resistant flooring also supports safe walking and improves pressure distribution while standing and walking.

For paved walking alleys, KRAIBURG will present the wedge-shaped profiKURA 3D, among other solutions. It provides a slope of approx. 3 % toward the center of the walking alley directly through the mat and is suitable for both new buildings and retrofitting existing barns. The profiDRAIN drain channel mat combines soft walking surfaces with a slope of approx. 6 % toward the drain channels in order to effectively collect and drain liquids.

For slatted floors, KRAIBURG offers espaFLEX, a slat mat with a slope on both sides from the center of the mat to the edges. It combines an elastic, slip-resistant walking surface with a variably configurable slit pattern. This makes it possible to meet the requirements for animal comfort, drainage and partial coverage of the slurry pit in the respective barn concept.

Another new feature is CowCross, a self-draining rubber flooring for elevated crossing passages. Its integrated slope directs urine and water from drinking troughs into the adjacent walking alleys, where manure scrapers or manure removal robots collect the liquids at regular intervals. This helps to keep hygiene-sensitive areas drier and reduces the time hooves are exposed to moisture and soiling.

Exchange with specialists at the trade fair booth

With these two key topics, KRAIBURG addresses core requirements of modern dairy farms: comfortable lying areas, safe and as-dry-as-possible walking areas and practical barn design. Visitors can learn about the respective solutions, application options and the most suitable design for their farm at the booth.
