Longer lying areas for the cows at “Fleckviehzucht Primbs” farm with KEW Plus 192 cm

In many farms, everything is apparently in order with the setting of the cubicles. It often happens, however, that the horizontal distance between the neck rail and brisket board is too small, so that the cows hit the board with their carpal joints when they lie down. This leads to undesirable lying positions and reduced lying times. There are options to extend the lying areas in existing cubicles and thereby further improve the comfort for the cows.

Our motto: the better is the enemy of the good!

Combined housing - improving comfort and safety with rubber flooring

Around half of the Bavarian cows are still being kept in tying stalls. Across Germany, the proportion is 13% (source: destatis), which corresponds to a number of around 500,000 animals. Many farms have developed great solutions to offer their cows significantly more opportunities to move. Areas in the barn, which are then used as travel lanes, were built primarily for people. Rubber flooring is a simple and comfortable solution to adapt the floor conditions for the cows and to enable them to walk in and out safely.
