Procedural costs for various types of cubicles in comparison

The procedural costs of various operations for different types of cubicle systems were collected. Each operation kept 400 – 1200 dairy cows.

8 operations were compared (state of Saxony, Germany):

• 5 operations with deep litter cubicles – litter: straw-lime

• 2 operations with elevated cubicles and rubber mat – litter: lime

• 1 operation with elevated cubicles and rubber mat – litter: straw

Results:

The average procedural costs per year for elevated cubicles with rubber mat are less than half of the costs for deep litter cubicle systems!
